I play poker. I am not a chip leader, but I am not a chip looser either! I am not that kind of player that you can call a real pro, but you can be sure that I handle money meticulously. I do not loose a dime without a reason. I am a responsible financial pro if not a poker pro.
And, definitely being financially responsible is one way that can keep your liking for the game alive. If I am going to mess up with loosing more; quite naturally, I would loose interest from the game due to the kind of loss that it can give me with loosing lot of chips frequently.
Being financially tactful has two benefits. One is you keep liking the game. The other benefit is that money consciousness lets you make sensible moves, and you play in a disciplined manner. But being too disciplined has a disadvantage, because people tend to know that I am a disciplined player and they are likely to judge my moves. So, playing a bit loose, and tight, and a mix of tight and loose, and switching off between playing approaches, is definitely needed.
Summing up, I feel, financial discipline should be collaborated with unpredictable playing style, and that is the way to play poker in a wise manner.
